HEX VIEW // RAW BYTE MATRIX

In-memory hexadecimal buffer inspector and binary forensics analyzer. Parse arbitrary file structures or raw character streams into canonical 16-byte offset hex dumps with side-by-side ASCII telemetry.

BINARY FORENSICS, OCTET RADIX & CANONICAL HEXADECIMAL DECOMPOSITION

Technical specifications for standard 16-byte hex dump formats, endianness architectures, magic byte detection, and memory privacy.

1. Anatomical Structure of a Hex Dump

Derived from Unix utility standards like hexdump -C and xxd, canonical hex dumps partition raw binary streams into three contiguous columns:

  • Offset Address (Left): Hexadecimal byte position counter starting at 00000000, incrementing by 16 (0x10) for each consecutive line.
  • Hex Byte Values (Center): 16 individual byte octets represented as two-digit hexadecimal values (00 through FF), separated into two 8-byte clusters by extra spacing for visual parsing.
  • ASCII ASCII Glyphs (Right): Human-readable ASCII character representation. Printable characters (0x20 to 0x7E) render as glyphs; non-printable control characters render as dots (.).

2. Magic Numbers & File Signatures

File formats declare their identity via byte signatures embedded at offset 0:

PDF Document 25 50 44 46 (%PDF)
ZIP Archive 50 4B 03 04 (PK..)
ELF Binary 7F 45 4C 46 (.ELF)
1. Airgapped Safety File buffers remain exclusively within browser RAM via Uint8Array. Zero remote telemetry.
2. Paginated Virtual Buffering Smoothly navigates binary payloads with chunked 512-byte pagination to prevent browser DOM freezing.
3. Octet Telemetry Real-time metrics tally null bytes, printable ASCII ratios, and high-order extended binary markers.
